Rules and Regulations

    Team Formation

    Participants can form teams of 2 to 4 members. Solo participation is are also allowed.

    Registration

    Open to students, professionals, and enthusiasts interested in technology and social impact. Each participant must provide their name, email address, and affiliation during registration.

    Intellectual Property

    Participants retain ownership of the intellectual property developed during the hackathon. However, participants are encouraged to license their projects under an open-source license to foster collaboration and community engagement.

    Project Requirements

    Projects must address a specific social challenge using technology. All code, designs, and other project materials must be created during the hackathon. Projects must be original and not infringe on existing intellectual property rights.

    Timeframe

    The hackathon will begin on 20/09/2024 (11:00 am) & end on 21/09/2024 (11:00 am). Participants are expected to work continuously on their projects during the designated timeframe. Breaks and rest areas will be provided for participants to recharge.

    Code Review

    Participants must adhere to coding standards and best practices. Teams may be required to undergo a code review process by mentors or judges to ensure code quality and compliance with project requirements.

    Resource Usage

    Participants must use only authorized software, tools, and datasets during the hackathon. The use of pre-existing code or projects is not allowed, except for open-source libraries or frameworks. Any use of unauthorized or pirated software is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification.

    Collaboration

    Teams are encouraged to collaborate and seek help from mentors or organizers, but cross-team collaboration is not allowed during the competition.

    Submission

    Each team must submit their project by 21/09/2024 (11:00 am). Submissions may include a project demo, presentation slides, and source code. Presentation time slots will be assigned to each team for showcasing their projects to the judges and other participants.

    Judging Criteria

    Projects will be evaluated based on creativity, technical complexity, impact, and presentation quality. Judges will consist of industry professionals, academics, and community leaders with expertise in technology and social impact.

    Award Categories

    Each participant will receive a participation certificate acknowledging their involvement in the event. In addition to participation certificates for participants, mentors will also be honoured with mementos recognizing their valuable contributions and guidance throughout the event. The Hackathon will offer prizes or awards to winning teams based on the judging criteria. The prizes may include cash/attractive prizes, mentorship opportunities, incubation or acceleration programs, or other incentives outlined by the organizers.

    Disputes and Arbitration

    In case of any disputes or concerns, the decision of the organizers and judging panel will be final. Any disagreements or issues should be resolved through an arbitration process outlined by the organizers.

    Liability

    The organizers and sponsors of the Hackathon hold no liability for any damages, losses, or injuries incurred during the event. Participants are responsible for their own safety, equipment, and actions.

  • 15

    Consent and Media Release

    Participants may be required to provide consent for their photographs, videos, or project details to be used by the organizers for promotional or media purposes.

    Changes to the Rules

    Organizers reserve the right to make changes to the Hackathon rules, format, or prizes at any time. Any modifications will be communicated to the participants in a clear and timely manner.

    Code of Conduct

    Any form of harassment or discrimination will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification. Discrimination or prejudice based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.

    Registration fee is non-refundable.
